News - Hear My Heart in Sign Language

Hip Hop artist Andy Mineo has released the highly anticipated music video for "Hear My Heart" to highlight last week's International Week of the Deaf...

Hear My Heart is the second single off his newest album Uncomfortable and is a personal record for Mineo, a tribute to his big sister Grace who is deaf.

"It's just an honest record of me essentially apologising to her for having never learned sign language growing up," he explained recently in a radio interview. "We're putting together a music video," he continues, "I want to see sounds. So we're really working on something creative and special for her because I really just want her to know that I love her and I'm sorry."

For the video, Mineo collaborated with Alex Medina and Director Kyle Dettman to create an innovative visual that is accessible to the Deaf and hard of hearing community. Andy Mineo signs his lyrical performance and sounds are brought to life through visually interesting 3D objects.

To advocate for the Deaf Community, Mineo released the video for last week's International Week of the Deaf 2016, to support and raise awareness for this year's theme "With Sign Language, I Am Equal."

Mineo first announced the heartfelt song with a sign-language video he called the "Speechless Announcement" which left curious fans wondering. Watch the video for Hear My Heart below and find out more about International Week of the Deaf on their website.
